Fragility

A sober post today...

Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapor
that appears for a little time
and then
vanishes
away.

FRAGILITY

As I've been sitting here at my computer yesterday and today, I've been contemplating the fragility of life. So many sad news stories on the television and radio and in the newspapers of death.

I listened to the one story that is on the news here right now of the Michigan husband who killed and dismembered his wife while their two little children were asleep in the house and he was arrested yesterday. Sadness!

I watched the news of our main north-south highway yesterday all of a sudden being enveloped in white-out and blizzard conditions and a bus filled with happy travellers ran into the back of a tanker semi truck and sandwiched a little car between them and within the next minute or two, there were maybe upwards of 75 other vehicles involved in the collision. All this happened in the twinkling of an eye.

Then my thoughts went to my friend here in my city who is a councillor on our council and who is going through such terrible health problems now needing to wear oxygen full time and only just a little over 50 years of age. Such fragility!

My thoughts wandered back a few years to a husband, although very ill, was full of life and dreams of again travelling, '"just once more", to his homeland and with that final "Hurry and go to bed honey! We have to get up early for dialysis." by 1:10 am, he was brain dead.

Who knew? We didn't but the Creator did.

Life is fragile,
Handle with prayer.

A very powerful post from you today, and on a subject I've been thinking about a lot. A beautiful photo too. I always vow to try to treasure every moment and all the wonderful people in my life. I don't always succeed but i do try... xxx

I think about fragility--much more now that my kids are old enough to drive. Turning 50 didn't help! I try to cherish the moments with my family and notice the beauty around me for as long as it may last. Great photo to go along with your thoughts.

This is such a thought provoking post Pat. I liked it and I like your image to go with it. Part of the reason I started the PAD blog is so I could embrace the life that is in front of me instead of wishing it away by the constant yearning from wanting to be somewhere else.

This was wonderful. Thanks.

Life is such a fragile thing. It must be handled with prayer. There's so much i want to say but lets just be thankful for everything and keep our accounts up to date.
Pat, this is a simply beautiful photo image you have posted along with your heart.
Thanks for sharing.

I agree a very powerful post Pat, it stops you and gets you thinking for sure.

I have lived in so many places and left so many people, loved ones and friends behind. I try to keep in contact, but life just consumes you and it becomes harder and harder.

I am sorry I have missed your blog and a few others for the past few days, I am trying to keep up but not succeeding very well. Thank you for stopping by mine.

((((HUGS)))))

Pat, I have been feeling the same way lately. This winter weather has been just brutal here for over a month, and this latest cold snap is now exception. And you are right about all of the tragedies in the news. I have been thinking about those poor teenagers who died last week during the tornado in Alabama.
Thanks for posting your powerful image as well as the reminder about the power of prayer!

Life and hope are so precious...too often we take for granted the little things in life. I listen to the news and my heart goes out to the families who neber get a chance to say goodbye to their loved ones.
An extra special ((hug)) for you

A moving and thoughtful post. This is why we should treat each day as a gift, even if we aren't where we want to be, or the sun isn't shining. The photo you used illustrates perfectly how quickly things might change.
Consider yourself hugged..xx
